Abstract

The PKH community group in Grendeng Subdistrict, North Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, shows high potential to engage in orchid cultivation as a viable entrepreneurial activity. This initiative holds promising prospects for future development into a tourism village that complements the Baturraden tourism area. Notably, at least eight members of the PKH group have prior experience cultivating Dendrobium orchids, typically by attaching them to shade trees in their yards. Dendrobium is one of the orchid genera with high economic value. However, several technical challenges persist in orchid cultivation, particularly the slow growth of Dendrobium orchids following acclimatization. To address this issue, the research-based community service program (PkM) aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of PKH members in Grendeng regarding post-acclimatization growth stimulation techniques for Dendrobium orchids. Outreach and training activities on Dendrobium acclimatization have been successfully conducted, along with workshops on the application of BAP (Benzylaminopurine), colchicine, and oryzalin. The PKH members demonstrated strong enthusiasm in participating in these training and technology transfer sessions. The method involved identifying lateral shoots of Dendrobium, removing their protective sheaths, and applying BAP, colchicine, and oryzalin topically. The seedlings are currently adapting to the treatments. By the seventh day post-application, bud protrusion was observed, indicating successful induction by BAP, colchicine, and oryzalin. The success rate of bud emergence ranged from 67% to 81.80%.
