Abstract
ABSTRACT
Liquid waste from fisheries and marine science laboratories contains toxic and hazardous pollutants. The waste comes from practicum, research, and PKM activities. So far, the liquid waste has been simply dumped in waste containers without being treated first, so it can pollute the surrounding environment due to the high BOD, COD, and TSS values. Based on this, a study entitled; Application of filtration and adsorption methods in processing liquid waste from fisheries and marine science laboratories has been carried out. The purpose of this study is to study the manufacture/design of liquid waste treatment equipment using filtration and adsorption methods and to determine the efficiency of the equipment in reducing the levels of laboratory liquid waste pollutants. The research method used is the analysis of BOD, COD, and TSS of liquid waste before and after processing. The results of the study showed that the filtration and adsorption methods can be applied to the processing of liquid waste from Fisheries and Marine Science laboratories, indicated by the percentage reduction in BOD, COD, and TSS levels of 61.71%, 80.75%, and 83.35%, respectively.
